Art Direction, Photography: Mexicanidad: A Story in Six Frames
For this assignment we were tasked with creating a photo story based on the theme of identity.
The aspect of identity I chose to focus on was nationality, more specifically Mexican nationality.
I then began dotting down all my potential ideas:

2. the food: traditional dishes represent our heritage
3. the dances: tell stories of Mexico's history and culture, connecting past and present
4. the music: resonates through the streets, bringing people together and celebrating Mexico's rich musical heritage
5. traditions: celebration of day of the dead, the acknowledgment of generations
6. the future: the children the future generations of Mexico
Storyline:
For my story I want to focus on the beauty of Mexican nationality. As a Chicana I have learned to embrace the beauty of being a Mexican American. I absolutely love everything that Mexico has to offer, I love the land, the culture, the food, the traditions and much more. Stepping into Mexican land gives off such a different vibe, everyone is so welcoming and everything is colorful and full of life. As to the food every dish is so unique, every meal is prepared with love and full of flavor. The dances and the music are both important aspects to Mexico's heritage, they hold history and bring people together. In Mexican families traditions are very important, they usually are traditions that are passed down through generations. Lastly the future, in Mexican households the future is always being talked about. Our parents will always help us regardless of their knowledge levels. Our parents sacrifice themselves day by day working hard and long hours in order for us to have greater opportunities than the ones they obtained. For us, the children of Mexican parents, the future is what we want to conquer.
