The work is in reaction to the poignant choreography of Pina Bausch. The use of red earth references the colour palette of "Rite Of Spring". Themes of fragility, familiarity and strength are present in this work. The dirt covered plaster ceiling rose used as the anchor point for the candlewick, is cast from a ceiling rose that was in my grandmothers' house. When i was a child, I didn't sleep well, and would lie awake staring at the patterns and cracks in the ceiling rose. The redundant lengths of candle wick are taught, unfulfilled and anchored.
String Installation was installed at COFAspace gallery in March 2014.
