I have had the privilege of working on a project commissioned by SumUp, a company based in Boulder, Colorado. As a freelance designer, I have been tasked with creating unique badges for each office location of SumUp. Adhering closely to the brand guidelines of the company, I have worked diligently to maintain a cohesive and professional look across all badges. Collaborating closely with the lead Graphic Designer at SumUp, I have strived to ensure that my designs meet the high standards set by the brand. The attention to detail and dedication to quality can be seen in the various iterations of the badges.

Boulder & El Paso

The first two badges of the project started in 2022, where I created the Boulder Badge, and the El Paso Badge.

Iterations in the beginning meant figuring out the shape of the badge itself and establishing the core styling.

From here, I had established a pattern and solid brand for the badges. The Sumup Boulder team would coordinate with each office and me, as we came up with a plan for each location. The offices around the world would suggest their unique architecture or surroundings, which helped me come up with the design.

First the badges started with the cityscape of Amsterdam but after speaking with the office team we went ina different direction emphasizing the Amsterdam culture.

As you can see, I always create the buildings first in different colors and send them to the lead designer with the designs of the badges. Sometimes a building is vetoed or there is a request for changes to it.
