Three Thousand Years of Longing, as the name suggests, was set over 3000 years, and in many different parts of the world. I was tasked with bringing to life the period of c1450s Turkey, and the opulent Topkapi Palace of Prince Mustafa. In the period of the Ottoman Empire, the architecture was ornate and detailed with abundant mouldings, latticework and beautiful mosaic tiles.
I developed a love and appreciation of Islamic and middle-eastern architecture since researching it for a set in The Hobbit, so it was a joy to dive back into this style once again.
