Canada's provincial flags disperse a broad array of quality and creativity as well as a complete lack thereof. The least inspiring of this array are the ensign flags of Ontario and Manitoba. Ontario houses both Canada's financial and political capitals and can draw from its significance to the country with a more consequential flag.

In designing an Ontario flag, the intention was to make it meaningful and recognizable above all else. Civic pride and heavy symbolisms aren't major considerations for most Ontarians, thus the flag's purpose is to simply make the province look good. The design is inspired by existing Ontario symbols like the Trillium, in addition to other Canadian and provincial motifs. Special attention was paid to Quebec, who boast a world class flag to which any Ontario flag would need to look becoming alongside.
