Namyata is a craft research-based document that provides a deep exploration into the world of Bamboo and Cane craft of Odisha. A team of 5th semester students from the Department of Fashion and Lifestyle Accessories of NIFT Bhubaneswar went on a five-day field visit to the town of Banapur and neighbouring villages in the Khorda district of Odisha.
During the five days, the team actively engaged with the artisans to understand the craft and the nuances of its techniques. Our primary goal was to understand the manufacturing process, from the raw material procurement to the finished product ready for sale. The team's mission extended not only to provide the artisans with up-to-date knowledge on the recent trends of the craft but also to provide solutions on how they can enhance their product development as well as their livelihood.
