ACHSO■○ — Optical illusion tableware series

Achso is a tableware series that can interact with users. The method of interaction is: optical illusion. This tableware set used three different methods of optical illusion, namely Op Art, 3D Optical Illusion by Kokichi Sugihara, and Moiré Effect.

The original source of inspiration was that I accidentally saw a report by the Japanese mathematician Kokichi showing much of his work on optical illusions. He brought the illusion into the three-dimensional world that deeply attracted me. Designing surprising and interesting products is what I've always wanted to do. And optical illusion is a good entry point. There are many different methods of optical illusion. I selected three of them and combined them, then I designed the Achso tableware series.

During the design process, I also brought in some of the Chinese food cultures associated with me. The type of dishes I choose, the way they are placed and the materials, etc. depend on the Chinese food culture. This is also why the ceramic part is the main part of this project.

We have to eat every day and use dishes every day. The Achso tableware series does not only focus on appearance and style. Bringing a better dining experience and more fun to life is the goal.
