The Ways2Go app is aimed at providing users with safe transportation routes, including walking, biking, or using public transit. The app includes a variety of screens, featuring a sharing function for user input and feedback, alongside a "Start Route" task facilitating navigation to familiar destinations. Through meticulous logo and icon design, the brand identity was crafted to enhance user navigation within the app.
The inspiration behind the app's concept and design emanated from a personal commitment to promoting safe public transportation. Sketches were instrumental in shaping the visual style of the logotype and icons, which were then refined using Adobe Illustrator. Personas and wireframes helped clarify the app's primary objectives and guided the development process, from layout to icon design. Subsequent user testing provided valuable feedback, informing edits for the final version of the app.
Diverging from the conventional greens, blues, and browns of typical map apps, Ways2Go adopts a color palette featuring teal and yellow, with darker teal accents for contrast and legibility. Throughout the app, Brevia Bold, Semibold, and Light weights are utilized for headline and body text, its rounded edges complimenting the app's graphical features. Imagery includes cityscapes and natural scenes, illustrating the diverse range of available routes.
The app interface was crafted in Adobe Photoshop, incorporating final icons from Illustrator. Prototyping was executed using Marvel, followed by additional user testing to ensure functionality. Ways2Go stands as a highly practical app boasting a clean design and a straightforward call to action, aimed at enhancing the travel experience.
