Socially critical magazine in minimalist design
Editorial design in minimalist style with focus on micro typography

Student research project: 2018
Modul: Editorial Design
Realised in Indesign, with fine drawing for print

Own work of concept, content research, editorial
layout, print
As part of a module "Editorial Design" in 2018, I realised a very special project. I created a magazine that goes through all the steps from the first idea to the printing.
In terms of content, I dealt intensively with the western "gab year tourism" to third world countries. I critically examined how this phenomenon affects the countries visited. This involved questions of sustainability, cultural sensitivity and social responsibility. The key point here is the question of hypocrisy.
The design of the magazine reflects its upmarket character. It is designed like a noble monthly magazine that offers readers an aesthetic experience. The focus is on large, captivating images that bring the stories to life. The use of white space makes for pleasant readability and a clear, uncluttered design. The minimalist layout draws attention to the content and allows readers to focus on the essentials.
I paid special attention to the readability of the text. Through elaborate micro-typographical editing, I have ensured that the text is optimised in the best possible way. Every detail was taken into account to create a pleasant reading experience.
