Contemporary Koblenz - part 1

Koblenz trough my lens
Koblenz is know for its strategic position on the banks of the Rhine and the Moselle. Established around 8 BC as a Roman military post it has over 2.000 year of history.
I can highly recommend strolling through the old town and enjoy the boulevards along the rivers.
I'd like to share with you the city's contemporary architecture, starting with the 2013 redeveloped central Koblenz square.

Designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects and completed in 2013 the Kulturbau houses the public library, the Mittelrhein Museum and the tourist information of Koblenz.
The library is accessible via a tube elevator and escalator ramp. The lines, shapes and layers makes you want to stop and admire all the compositions.
The dark glaze level in between houses the exhibition spaces for the museum, blending both worlds. When visiting the museum you get to that level using an elevator, or my personal favorite, the spiral staircase. The red thread is part of a sculpture inviting you up.
Let me take you to to top floor and show you the mixed-use layers from a birds-eye perspective.
