Wagamama Restaurant - Auckland GR|DG Project

WAGAMAMA_____________________________________________________________

In my capacity as the lead designer for Guy Richards Design Guide, we undertook Wagamama’s new restaurant in Auckland, I oversaw the entire design process, from concept to completion, while adhering to the brand guidelines set out by Wagamama international.

The concept is deeply rooted in Japanese aesthetic influences, utilising only natural materials with a focus on simplicity, light, and texture. The scope of the project included the meticulous selection of interior materials, fixtures, and fittings, along with the design of bespoke joinery. Notably, the project involved comprehensive CAD documentation and compliance with building consent requirements, particularly as we undertook the design and layout of the full commercial kitchen.

The design language embraced natural timbers, polished brass, and brushed metal juxtaposed against a canvas of concrete render and brass mesh. This thoughtful combination created an inviting atmosphere for the restaurant, one that felt both sophisticated and carefully considered.

The result is a harmonious blend of Japanese aesthetics and contemporary design principles, ensuring the new Wagamama restaurant in Auckland adheres to international brand standards while offering a unique and captivating dining experience.
