Meet Strider.
Since taking a break from my freelance career, I've started making efforts to shed all parts of my style that I implemented to make myself "commercially viable", and really get back to the roots of WHY I became an artist in the first place .
One thing I want to add to my work is recurring characters. I've always been into artists and illustrators that dedicate effort to the backstories of their own characters and I really wanted to do it for myself.
I formulated the idea for Strider months ago. When League of Legends were teasing the champion, Hwei, they kept referring to him as "the ink mage". I started to wonder what an ink mage would look like, and then I had the idea of swirling a bunch of paintlike fluid in my iridescent style around a playful upbeat mage. This was the result.
I hope you like it, and I plan on placing Strider (and other characters) in my scenes over the course of 2024.
