Ever since I first saw a hummingbird in real life when I moved to California I instantly fell in love with the jeweled messengers. Not suspecting that one day it will be more than just sketching and adoring them from a distance.  

One spring day in 2015 I found an injured hummingbird in the middle of the sidewalk and I couldn’t leave her behind, and rest is history. Working with what I got, feeding around the clock, crushing insect protein shots and taking Hummy with me to work. The few weeks we had together were a rollercoaster in the most wonderful sense. My pup Nietzsche had always been a gentle soul assisting me with most timid or aggressive creatures with his zen and silent alpha strength, yet how he handled this dinky thing still blows my rational mind. Including saving her aka alerting me in the middle of the night that she fell out of the shoe box (instead of having a snack!) Her fighter spirit still inspires me and I am forever grateful to have met this beautiful soul.

Same as hummingbirds I have a sweet tooth, and this design concept was inspired by the idea of Turkish delights, flowers, and of course Hummy.
