Your Brain on Coffee
I've never hidden the fact that much of my inspiration comes from caffeine. I added some to my exploartions of the wonders of the human body and came up with the Coffee-Stain Brain, and original watercolor painting combining the beauty of the brain with the power of that most excellent elixir, coffee, without which not much progress would be made in either the arts of sciences.
I put down a background wash and then "painted" on it with a coffee cup dipped in paint in coffee and espresso browns. The paint spreads out a little, creating that coffee-ring-on-paper pattern familiar to many of us from studying or working late.
I've created lots of variations, from pale cafe au lait to frothy latte to deep, dark double espresso. Some are available in my shop at www.etsy.com/artologica.
