Project 3: Holiday Calendars

Project 3: December Calendars
The goal of this project was to design calendars for the final month of the year, December. For my calendars, I decided to do a holiday theme that would best reflect Christmas and the month of December. My gingerbread poster is inspired by my girlfriend’s love for them (who is the recipient). I wanted the calendar itself to look like a gingerbread cookie while the details such as the title, date and numbers to emulate frosting. The gingerbread men next to the title, their color scheme in particular, are a reference to a gingerbread squishable that my girlfriend owns. I also included a gingerbread pattern on the sides that are colored in red and green to further emphasize the Christmas theme. For the second calendar, I was inspired by the Christmas decorations in my house. We like to do a red and gold theme so that’s the color scheme I went with. The ornaments colors and design elements reflect many of the ornaments that are on my Christmas tree. The mistletoe garland is also similar to the decorations in my house. Ultimately, I was aiming for a nostalgic feeling in my red calendar that reminded me of the type of Christmas that my family and I celebrate. I also colored the number 25 on both of the calendars to emphasize the special day of Christmas.
Reflection
Overall, I had a lot of fun working on this project. It was nice being able to destress with a project that gave me lots of creative freedom. It's especially rewarding for me to be able to design something that's for my loved ones to enjoy.
