Textile PressPad

Textile PressPad is an interactive musical installation using a “tactile” fabric interface, build for a Master Media Design TouchDesigner Workshop at HEAD GENEVA. The fabric responds to touch, enabling people to contribute additional sound layers to an underlying musical melody. Each zone of the surface corresponds to a different instrument and the amount of pressure applied on the fabric, detected by a Kinect sensor, determines its volume.
The installation, on an elevated wooden structure, can be used alone or by multiple people for a participative exploration. Visual effects projected from above, such as organic smoke effects, accompany the musical output to create an engaging experience.
