Brief_

In Part 2 of this module, students will explore the more expressive, abstract, creative, and artistic sides of animation. Students are required to visualise a piece of music or promote an artist/band through animation and motion techniques. Abstract animations are encouraged. Imagine stage visuals for a song being performed live or emotive visuals during an orchestral or theatrical performance. Perhaps an expressive and artistic piece of animation for a specific song. Your animation needs to be visually stunning and aesthetically interesting. You need to express a certain mood, tone, or feeling. The animation needs to feature a main concept or theme that connects to the song or artist. Creating an animation that is aesthetically interesting and emotionally moving is crucial to this brief. Animations should be a minimum of 20 seconds, or the full length of your piece of music or soundscape if time allows.
Concept_

For this assignment, I will be using a combination of found imagery, hand-drawn frame-by-frame loops, and effects, with a wide range of aesthetic components keeping the viewer engaged.

This animation is centred around the theme of travel and the sense of euphoria that it brings. The animation features constant motion, while a frame-by-frame animation, hand-drawn in Photoshop, is layered over it. Additionally, vector illustrative shapes will be added, which will be edited in After Effects.

Reflection_

There is a range of aesthetic components that keep the viewer engaged. The overall design was well-suited for the chosen theme and tone, and it complemented the accompanying music quite well. The final piece had a good sense of rhythm and timing, and the editing and structure were well executed. All in all, I think this was a successful project.
