The future of autonomous offshore technology
Equinor is significantly involved in researching, developing, and investing in autonomous technology for their hazardous offshore and subsea operations. We were tasked with creating three films to illustrate various scenarios and use cases for both existing and future autonomous technology.
Watch the drone video for Equinor
Watch the SAR video for Equinor
Watch the cargo video for Equinor
In all the films, autonomous technology was the focus, but each film honed in on specific use cases. The first film showcased offshore, aerial, and ground drones, highlighting Equinor's planned drone station and the role of drones in preparing others to perform tasks. The film also showcased the use of AR and VR technology for the future control room. The second film focused on search and rescue operations, demonstrating the symbiosis between drones and their ability to provide quick response and continuous updates to the SAR team. The third film featured a cargo drone and an ordering system for retrieving parts, with the goal of showcasing the drone's ability to pick up and deliver items.
Some parts of these films required us to create our own visualizations of the future. This presented a challenge, as we strived to design assets that were realistic, practical, and convincing, akin to those in use today.
The films received positive feedback and have been widely used in presentations. They were particularly well received at the OTD-energy conference and were used extensively throughout the event.
