This installation for Garment St. condos in Downtown Kitchener was quite the collaborative effort. I worked with some fantastic people to bring this to life; Paul Consulting guided me through the vision of the entire project and encouraged me to push beyond my own creative boundaries. Joschka Sawatzky designed a beautiful brand identity, which I used as inspiration for this design, and Westmount Signs printed the vinyl in record time, and braved terrible weather to install it!
One of the things that excited me most about this project for Garment Street was the opportunity to incorporate one of my other creative interests; making clothing. I have been sewing since I was a child, and have accumulated all kinds of scraps and notions. For this piece I wanted to show the shapes that are organically created in the garment construction process, and the chaotic beauty of it all. Each piece of the composition is a remnant of something I’ve made or a piece I’ve acquired for a future project.
