Plant Matters

Chemigrams are a unique way to produce images without the use of a camera. It involves exposed photo paper, developer, stop bath, fixer, a rinse with water, and plenty of experimentation. In these two images, I used plants soaked in developer and plants soaked in fixer to achieve these results. Everything became so abstract, so freeform, so organic. All that remained were subtle hints of plant-like forms shrouded in a ghostly haze. It was a worthwhile break away from the much stricter nature of traditional analog photography.
