Surgeons OverSeas & Connaught Hospital, Sierra Leone

Photojournalism
Connaught Hospital is the main referral hospital in Sierra Leone. Surgeons OverSeas (SOS) has been helping to improve surgical care since February 2008 with salary support for surgical health care workers, providing supplies and equipment, and undertaking training courses in emergency and essential surgical care.
Surgical safety equipment such as gloves, protective eyewear, masks and boots are often in short supply.

The medical equipment the hopsital uses is often donated from overseas.  Most of it is antiquated and unreliable.
Surgical masks and protective eyewear, when available, keep staff and patients safe.
