Wahre Geschichten (True Stories)
In my pre-diploma, I studied the book "True Stories" by Sophie Calle. The book includes short stories that seem intimate and honest. However, many stories are absurd and shocking, which is why I became unsure if the title "True Stories" could be trusted. Sophie Calle does not explain anything, she leaves the reader in uncertainty. I have taken up this way of dealing with the truth in ten illustrated cover versions. Each illustration is accompanied by a short story on the inside. Whether the story is true, comes from me or from Sophie Calle, you may decide for yourself. All illustrations were drawn by hand with different materials, then digitized and printed in two colors on the Riso.
