Baskerville - Font Study/Typographic Book
Baskerville is a classic font that has been in use since its creation in the 1700s as a reading font. Its high legibility without sacrificing style and artistry inspired me to choose it as the subject of this project for my Typography class at Oakland University.

This project's goal was to create a physical book (designed in InDesign) from scratch that showcased the uniqueness of the font chosen. The first step of this process was researching the history of the font and its creator, John Baskerville, in order to write the copy of the book. Using this research I then looked closer at the font itself, its specific characteristics, and how I was to highlight the font's importance.
To do so, I specifically looked at enlarging letters and creating dimension between characters to highlight the artistic and more illustrative qualities many of the characters of Baskerville have. The color printing was limited to only B&W + One Pantone shade. The book itself (not shown here; only one copy exists) was all created by hand as a way to learn the ins-and-outs of printing, how to construct a physical model, and how to present a physical model of my work to potential clients.
