The "Cork Trainer" is a concept I created in an attempt to blend sustainable materials and craft techniques with modern men's sneaker styles.
I used a variety of hand tools to create these sneakers as pictured above. Some of these include the basics of sketching tools to ones as strong and crude as a hammer and plyers.
The uppers consist of vegetable tanned leather as well as neoprene, and are lined with microsuede. While the lining was stitched with a machine, the heel and side panels were attached to the toe and tongue with a hand stitching tool called a "Speedy Stitcher."
While this is just a prototype, with some careful design and the right use of materials this could work in some applications like a lifestyle sneaker. Specifically connecting both portions of the midsole with a rubber outsole, as well as making sure the connection between the two would be durable to withstand heavy use.
