The Acacias of Southern Africa: Tapestry of Beauty
I had an amazing opportunity to go to Southern Arfica in February of 2022. Whole another world was opened for me for two weeks, that passed by just like an enxhanted moment. I went to the Mpumalanga province, located near Kruger National Park. These are some of amazing species of Acacias I've seen there and tied to capture. I was fascinated by the amount of them.
These trees are recognized for their distinctive appearance, featuring delicate, feathery leaves and often adorned with vibrant yellow or cream-colored flowers. The acacia's unique foliage not only provides shade but also serves as a defense mechanism against herbivores. The leaves are often rich in tannins, making them unpalatable to many animals. Some acacias even possess thorns or spines, acting as a deterrent against browsing mammals.
