Objective: Create a conceptual environmental representation of a given four letter word (WANT). Design consistent and effective letterforms using a grid of circles, and recreate the letterforms in an environment that reflects and emphasizes the meaning of the word.

Solution: The origin of the word "want" comes from the Old Norse "vant", which means to need or desire, have a desire to posess or do, wish for. I felt a strong connection with the sense of "want" as referring to the past, similar to "wish." Childhood is what most adults want for most, wanting to escape the resposibilities of today for the innocence and freedom of their youth. These letterforms reflect the Norse culture from which "want" originated, and the original meaning of longing for the past and the playfulness of youth.
