Yashasvi Jaiswal nails the opening slot

In the first Test match, Yashasvi Jaiswal nails the opening slot, and Dravid-Rohit considers Shubman at No 3
Only 5 days remain for the India versus West Indies 1st test match, and Yashasvi Jaiswal is already set to make his debut for the Indian cricket team. According to all the indications, Shubhman Gill is going to go down from his opening slot.

Captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid want Shubman Gill to be the long-term successor to Cheteshwar Pujara. In the India vs. West Indies 1st Test, Gill will likely bat at No. 3, with Jaiswal opening with Rohit.

On the second day of the practise match, Jaiswal scored 54 runs in 76 balls. Also, with most of the top-order batters retiring after facing 50 deliveries, Dravid and Rohit wanted Jaiswal to carry on, hinting at an imminent debut.

In the shuffling game of the Indian cricket team, Shubman is the new puzzle, as he can open and bat at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5. While the idea was to groom Shubman as a long-term successor of Cheteshwar Pujara or Ajinkya Rahane in the middle order, KL Rahul’s struggle and the two veterans’ return to form forced a change in plan.
