Over the Bloody Moon

- I collaborated with Lesley Salem, the founder of Over The Bloody Moon, to develop a membership platform for women going through menopause. Our goal was to provide a clear and easy-to-navigate resource that gives users access to valuable information, such as trainings, articles, specialist videos, exercises, and more.

-The challenge was to organize a vast amount of information and make it easily digestible for users. Using Wix as the platform, I conducted research and worked closely with Lesley to create a clean, clear, and user-friendly design that makes it easy for her to add more content in the future.

- My role in the project went beyond UX research and design, as I also created the Membership section of the website from scratch. The platform is designed to help women at any stage of menopause take charge of their health and thrive.

- Our mission at Over The Bloody Moon is to "remove the muddle from menopause", and I am proud to have contributed to this mission by leveraging my skills in UX design and development."

During the initial design phase, I utilized simple sketches to present to the CEO and create an outline for the material that needed to be organized. These sketches allowed me to experiment with different ways to present the information in a clear and concise manner. User research showed the importance of an intuitive interface that catered to both in-depth readers and skimmers, as well as a format that facilitated regular updates of new files and information to retain user engagement.
After multiple iterations and sketches, I designed the website's navigation with a focus on user ease and accessibility. The navigation consists of the following categories:

These categories are further divided into subcategories, making it easy for users to navigate through the content. By choosing this format, Lesley and her team can continue to add new content without compromising the website's organization and structur
After gathering feedback from the team, I made several changes to improve the design of the website. First, I updated the bullet points to better reflect our brand with a simple rectangle shape. I also changed the video background from blue to white with a border to make it easier on the eyes. To simplify things, I combined the "download" section with the "read" section and removed unnecessary clutter. Additionally, I adjusted the tilt of the subcategories to match our marketing guidelines and improve visual consistency. Finally, I added the navigation I sketched up to the Wix site to create a seamless user experience. While this was a good start, I recognized that more changes may be needed as the design process continues.
Sign up page, email and form

On this page the goal was to encourage users to sign up to the OTBM Club. It was important to include the benefits of joining while also not bombarding the user with too much information.

With the help of Lesley we created a form as a way for the user to input the reasons they wanted to join the club and ways for us to better help them in the future.

The form has some key features

I needed the font to be easy to read

A star was put next to the mandatory sections of the form

When the mandatory sections were not completed when submitting they turn red so the user can easily decipher what needs to be done.

CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT

One of the challenges I faced throughout the whole process was the content. Lesley had content everywhere and a lot of it did not have a home. Some of the content needed to be uploaded into sound cloud while other content needed to be re-written as a blog post.

I had to go through all the content and slowly place them into their respective categories and formats. This took a long time but with the help of the content manager in Wix I was able to easily organize the galleries on the website. Using the content manager meant that I was limited in the design but it also meant that Lesley could continue to add content seamlessly in the future.

I learned how to work within the restrictions of WIX.

Outline of iterations and problems I overcame

Navigation - changed around the home page

Branding - Colors changed around to be more on brand as well as a simpler pallet

Recipes needed to be changed from just a pdf doc to a blog post on the website.

Podcasts needed to be uploaded into sound cloud

Videos needed a link as we were limited in the amount of videos we could have using WIX

Copywriting needed to be made clear everywhere on the website.

Descriptions needed to be shortened to fit into the content manager neatly

Sign up screen and form. Created a sign up screen and form that can easily be navigated to through the top navigation

What I learned from the process

We learn as we go and things constantly need changing due to design restrictions or user experience. Don't hold onto your initial idea to preciously.

Expect mistakes but learn how to fix them

I learned how to use a companies already developed brand guidelines with my own subtle design to give the user the experience they wanted

I learned how to better convey my design ideas through a lot of zoom meetings, emails and in person meetings.

Use intuition to decipher peoples true feelings

Always clarify and validate

Listen as much as you talk - Always listen to what the user or the client have to say while also using open ended questions.

Don't lose sight of your target audience. In this case my target audience were women whom are going through menopause.

Know your limitations - With this website I had limitations that presented themself through the Wix platform and me being solely a UX designer and not a web developer.

What more has to be done?

The membership platform still has more to be done to it.

A way for users to decipher their symptoms... This will be an entirely new section within the OTBM club membership.

Copywriting- working with WIX to stop people from just downloaded all the material. WIX is limited in how a company can stop users from downloading material (which is why it is very important to include branding and copy-write information everywhere)
