Libbs is a pharmaceutical company whose purpose is to help people achieve a fulfilling life. With more than 60 years of experience on the Brazilian market, the company produces around fifty million units of medication per year and has a wide range of medicines portfolio. A great design challenge that balances technical communication and brand positioning that only a bespoke typography can handle.
Medicine labels are one the noblest applications to typography, where it identifies and differentiates health-related information. Because of that, it was crucial for the typeface to be clear and for individual characters to be distinguishable. So we had to make sure that each character had defining traits, eliminating the possibility of them one being mistaken for the other.
These concerns represent the "serious” part of the project, for which we had to be thorough in each decision. Despite that, we managed to approach the design in a lighthearted way. Libbs' typefaces speak of care, warmth. The brand is as welcoming as it gets, and we believe we managed to have successfully translated this spirit to letterforms.
While Libbs Sans is versatile enough for being the standard typeface of the company, Libbs Script comes as a branding asset, mostly used for marketing pieces where is suitable to the brand to express itself in a more energetic tone of voice than usual.
