For this assignment we had to create a Self-Portrait that portrays a visual narrative about who you are and what “makes you.” The poster must be created using your own hands in some way — less reliant on the computer to manufacture your portrait, and more a hybrid composite of both hand-craft elements (analog) and digital overlays. Collage, found imagery, scans & printouts, handwriting, needle & thread, craft-materials, etc. are all available to build & assemble your portrait.
This was a separate version of this project where the main text reads, "I am endlessly creating myself"
For this project I used myself as the analog element in my design. The choice to include stickers and crayon textured background is to reference back to the beginning phases of my design career. Taking inspiration from Paula Scher and her layout of text, I surrounded myself with various font styles and included visual sound to represent my scream.  I also included subtly motion blur as well as ripped paper outline to add onto this theme of “breaking out”. Growing up I was very quiet, introverted and extremely anxious. In the past few years as I have grown more into art and took time to get to know myself. This portrait is a representation of how I currently feel, coming out of my shell, allowing my voice to be heard and my slow growth in design.
