Elaine Lustig Cohen "Pioneering a Movement"

For this project I was tasked with taking aspects of Elaine Lustig Cohens website and with using the assets (such as articles and other pieces of information like pictures and pull quotes), I was to make a monograph dedicated to her work!

So for this project I started out by listing down notable colors and themes that I saw amongst her work, along with looking at the Bauhaus movement for inspiration.
A look at what a potential cover may look like if I chose to get the monograph printed.
I had wanted to make the cover reflect what I saw on her website and from what I saw of Bauhaus. A nice mixture of type, shapes (primarily circles and rectangles), and colors. Primarily Bauhaus and Elaines work focused on the primaries and so I wanted to reflect that in my own rendition of a cover.
Another look at the cover from a different angle
An idea of what it could look like to have a physically laid out version.
One of the two spreads I show on this posting that I ended up being rather happy with, I had wanted to balance the pages with color, text, and images to make a more harmonious spread, enjoying in the end how it came out to fulfill that.
A closer look at a different spread mixing text and images.
A look at the full monograph, coverpage and all.

A full look through the monograph!

To conclude, this project taught me how to better space out my usage of colors, text, and shapes to help pull a layout and project together. Also further cementing how important it is to have a specified palette for these types of projects and assignments.
