The creation of Frutiger Serif was a reimagining of the Meridien type face created back in 1950s with the Frutiger serif coming out in 2008.  The style of this type face speicmen was based on space as the space race started in 1950s and the shuttle Endvevor was last launch happened in 2008 to go to the ISS, following the start of Meridien to the reimagining to Frutiger Serif
