Doc Martens is a German-founded British footwear and clothing brand. They are famous for their footwear. They became a form of self-expression for British youth culture especially the working class. They are a staple of counter-cultures like skin heads and punks.
I created a booklet that goes over the history and legacy of this iconic brand. The design is very punk and striking. There are collages that resemble pictures hastily cut out of a magazine. There is a boldness of the Alta California and PunkRocker Stamp fonts. The Alta California font looks like the letters were cut out of a newspapers and magazines. The PunkRocker Stamp resembles like a stamp that would be used for graffiti. Bright stark colors like the brand's yellow and black create a nice contrast. The heavily duo toned images draw the eye in while communicating the subversive nature of Doc Martens. The hatched lines motif throughout the book convey the stitching that the shoes are known for.
