Gift Booklet - final project typography

For my typography class this semester I was required to create this booklet as my final project. The specifications were that I needed to find a talk from the LDS semi-annual general conference and present it in a 7x10 inch booklet. It could not contain any images except for one photo of the author. We WERE allowed to use shapes and colors to convey a message, so I decided to use overlapping shapes to present the idea of inclusivity mirroring the theme of the talk. I went with a blue color scheme because I felt that blue conveyed a message of calm and peace that I also wanted to mirror from the talk. I do not own the rights to the image OR the copyrighted material in the talk.
Page one and two - my goal with this spread was to really convey the idea of inclusion/exclusion.
Page 5 and 6 - I wanted this end page to look like a closing image which is why I framed it the way I did with the text on the left and the weight on the right.
