I was inspired by the myth of Eurydice and Orpheus: their tragic love story and the very essence of Eurydice. According to legend, the feeling of the heroes was so strong that even the gloomy Hades – the ruler of the kingdom of the dead – went against all the rules and agreed to release the soul of the deceased Eurydice. The deceased Eurydice is a shadow, an unembodied soul. It can only exist in the kingdom of shadows, unmanifest. Its essence, according to my idea, its form and personification is like a fabric thrown into the air, smoothly descending and changing its shape in space. It is like the dissolution of a person’s personal essence, his tangibility. Eurydice, according to my idea, is a sign of physical non-presence. For me, she is a shadow dance, which also seems to seek to change and twist its shape.
During the dance, the form seems to disappear and only its changing shadow remains. It is an eternal movement, change, return and dying again. Dance with the wind. Dance as a whole.
This is what I wanted to show in my dress – eternal change and development, extinction and rebirth again, smoothness of forms, plasticity of changes, dynamics and expression of love.
