While traveling in Japan this past summer I had the pleasure of staying in the homes  of kind strangers. On occasion I was  granted the opportunity to document the  objects on display in their homes. After  returning to the United States I decided  to continue documenting interior spaces  with the criteria: Women’s spaces, ages  twenty to forty, and limited to apartments  or condos. The locations include California,  Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland,  and Japan.

Each horizontal row corresponds to each  individual woman’s space. The vertical  rows are categories, such as Plants, Shower  Caps, and Workout Equipment.  If a space did not have one of the grouped  items, it was left blank. What do these objects or lack thereof  signify, if anything at all?
