Submitted to the 'Art City' Open Show at Watt Space Gallery, Newcastle, Australia. The exhibition was open to works of any medium (but a size constraint of A4 2D or equivalent 3D) celebrating Newcastle's unique cultural environment.

With my work located on the bushland grounds of Newcastle University, I'm constantly amused to see a range of fauna crossing my path; birds, tortoises, lizards, even the occasional red-bellied black snake. But more often, I like to watch the ducks that visit the pond in front of the Chancellery.  While on my way to a photo shoot, I snapped a photo of this duck going through a series of stretches while preening itself.  I felt that it would make a wonderful and interestingly posed subject to paint for this exhibition as most students and staff that have visited uni grounds have a story or two to share about their experiences with the ducks on campus.
