Micro-Interactions
Illustration in Motion - 2nd Year Project Submission
Greenside Design Center
Designed by students:
Jordyn Ramos & Daniel van Niekerk
For this project, we aimed to recreate a saved icon for the platform Pexels that will hopefully offer the viewer a fresh new aesthetic pleasing icon that will leave the viewer wanting to interact with our icon, because Pexels is a platform that stores millions of free to use images, we thought it would only be fitting to re-design an icon that suits this platform, which is why we designed an icon that looks like a Polaroid camera and will give the viewer the feeling that they are truly taking a photo of the image they love.

We hope that our icon will cause visitors to fill up their save folders and give them a feeling of really capturing a memory.
Pexels Original Bookmark Icon
The bookmark function does not have any indication or visible state of change once you have saved an image to your collection. This is shown in the two screenshots on the right. We are ignoring the like button shown.

We decided that this would be a good icon to re-trend and give users a better indication and a more powerful  and satisfying experience when engaging with the interface.

First Scamps and Ideas
A collection of all of our possible ideas towards the retrending of the icon.
Icon Breakdown
Using a grid with the size of 24px by 24px we transferred our final idea to a digital space and worked on creating a consistenty styled icon in the form of a camera.
