When I began my thesis I was troubled by the usage of the words Minimal, Minimalist, and Minimalism in graphic design. Having studied art history in college I knew that these works were not Minimalist, just Modernist or simplistic. With this knowledge I began to compile my thoughts and research Minimalism; the result was this paper. My goal in writing and designing this book was to give insight into what makes something Minimalist and how it could be applied to graphic design. In short, I found very little graphic design qualifies as Minimal, but the opportunity is still there.
