The Book Cover
A Capa do Livro
The second book in the "Making a Book" collection - dedicated to industrial bookbinding techniques - and the follow up to The Book Block, this book expands on the most common techniques, decomposing them and adding variation, while still covering all you need to know on book anatomy, materials and industrial production.
Organized in three typologies — single, two-piece, and composite covers —, The Book Cover adds sections on industrial cover making processes. Learning from its predecessor, we started by rethinking the graphic production pipeline in order to optimize its content creation. Whether text or its more complex illustrations, a more expedient and flexible tweaking process was needed. And, during a global pandemic, a tighter process – in editing and communicating – aided in the production.
Developed for the "Making a Book" Collection, Uivo was designed to be a workhorse: practical, versatile and, of course, stylish, regardless if on its own or paired with the books’ illustrations.

Thoroughly illustrated, The Book Cover excels in examples of cover assembly variations. Featuring 300+ illustrations, from general overviews of book cover types to small production details.
