Ian Barker's Poster Project
The main goal of the aesthetic I was going for was bold and simplistic. I wanted everything to mesh to give the viewer a cohesive and efficient way to digest the large amount of information in the poster.
Mood Board
Main inspirations for my project were concert posters and movie posters. I wanted to give people the feeling of a major event and I could not think of a better way to evoke that feeling than a concert or movie. I boiled down the main essence of these to their simple outline of the subject and bold simplistic text. Essentially it is a simplistic but stylized and bold.
Initial Draft
First draft had the the potential that resulted in my final draft but still have many issues that needed to be corrected. The typography was all over the place. The fonts did not work well together and failed to match my goal aesthetic. The outlines over the text we confusing and the white background for the UConn logo did not work.
Most important Assets for Aesthetic
Fonts: Impact, Ariel.
Colors: Yellow, Blue, White, Black.
Font Sizes Used: 120 pt, 55 pt, 52 pt, 48 pt, 38 pt, 35 pt, 28 pt, 15 pt.
Final Results
Final results had many changes from the initial design. More streamlined aesthetic. UConn logo was moved to a black background and the design asset was added on the sides. Font sizes were changed to triage information better. Font types were changed to clean up typography. More white coloring was added to brighten the design.
