Post-pandemic mental health problems constitute an unprecedented global crisis.
Studies around the world indicate that a good part of the global population is suffering from anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress effects, increased development of eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, loss of physical condition due to lack of exercise) and sleep disorders (insomnia).
The pandemic has exposed mental health. In fact, it has allowed mental health issues to occupy the front page of the media and many politicians have included mental health issues and terms in their speeches and vocabulary.
On the other hand, social networks reflect how the pandemic has harmed user’s mental health. Based on this idea, several teams from MIT and Harvard University have analyzed the conversations published during these months to find out how user's mental health has been affected. Using machine learning techniques to analyze the content of more than 800,000 posts, the Harvard researchers found changes in the tone and content of citizen's language used as the first wave of the pandemic progressed.
