Before restoration
The painting was kept on the roller for a long time and had extensive deformations of the canvas, as well as numerous ground losses, especially along the left and right edges of the painting. The canvas had tears, including at the corners of the edges. There was ground craquelure at the bottom of the painting, as well as paint layer losses across the surface. The varnish was thin, uneven, and had internal damage.
Done
A full set of restoration operations was performed: the paint layer and primer were reinforced, and deformations of the canvas were aligned. Losses of the canvas were repaired. The painting was reinforced on the back side, and then duplicated. Surface dirt was removed from the front side of the painting. Losses of the ground and the paint layer were repaired. Lacquer film was regenerated. The painting was varnished and then was stretched on a new sub-frame.
