We were asked to create paper installations for a restoration project of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. We create the first character, inspired by a comb master who lived in Istanbul in the 1920s. He had climbed the streets of Galata and sat down to take a breather in the shadow of the Metrohan building that was restorated.
The other character is a curious neighbor who wonders what is going on in the next room of the Metrohan building in Taksim Tünel, Istanbul.
We made these by hand-cut and we really liked the way our sculptures create a contrast with the old texture of historical places.
