Harmonia - The Bacchae

 

In my vision for a telling of this play, the frenzy and madness of the Ancient Greek setting would be pared with the excess of the 1980's.  Harmonia's visual cues would be rich jewelry, and a slinky purple snakeskin print dress, foretelling of her fate to be turned into a snake.

Agave - The Bacchae

 

In my vision for a telling of this play, the frenzy and madness of the Ancient Greek setting would be pared with the excess of the 1980's.  As a Maenad, Agave would follow the visual cues of Dionysus with a sheer chiton-like skirt, and bloodied hands.  However with a "preppy" flair she wears a lion's mane stole, which references her ultimate killing of Pentheus, her own son.  In the most prominent position of the maenads, she wears a pinecone headband/crown.

Ino - The Bacchae

 

In my vision for a telling of this play, the frenzy and madness of the Ancient Greek setting would be pared with the excess of the 1980's.  As a Maenad, Ino would follow the visual cues of Dionysus with a deer print homage.  Other cues include a sheer chiton-like skirt, and bloodied hands.  However with a "preppy" flair she wears a sweater vest and a draped cardi.  A cue to her role as Ino, I have styled her with colors evocative of the sea, which she later would become the Queen of.

Autonoe - The Bacchae

 

In my vision for a telling of this play, the frenzy and madness of the Ancient Greek setting would be pared with the excess of the 1980's.  As a Maenad, Autonoë would follow the visual cues of Dionysus with a leopard print homage.  Other cues include a sheer chiton-like skirt, and bloodied hands.  However with a "preppy" flair she wears an ivy sweater vest, draped cardi, and a cocaine filled pinecone pendant.

 

These are dog shoes that I drafted and made for my dog since she doesn't like to walk outside without booties.  They are polar fleece to withstand moisture and for warmth, with an upholstery vinyl sole for traction and durability.  They have sewn on double sided velcro straps for ease in securing to paws.

 

Pen pouch prototype designed to hold ten micron pens.  Sewn with an upholstery vinyl outer, polyester ripstop lining, and an invisible zipper.  Hand embroidered.  Drafted and designed by me.

Micro Plushes - Various

 

Small sewn stuffed animals/mascots done on commission.  All can easily fit in the palm of one's hand.  Made with ecofelt, embroidery thread, and stuffed with cotton.  All drafted and designed by me.

Cat Toy - Aquaman, DC Comics

 

Ecofelt and embroidery thread tokens, filled with a combination of poly fill, cat nip, and bonito fish flakes.  Attatched with hot glue and ribbon.  Stick fabricated from florist's wire, hot glue, and satin ribbon.  Drafted and designed by me in the theme of Aquaman.  Because who else would smell like fish and be attacked by cats?

 

Quilter's cotton and interfacing.  Fully reversible.

 

Freestyle cut and sewn fascinator, made with satin, miliner's netting, and embellished with Swarovski crystals and Austrian glass beading.  Lined with black linen.

Flat Cap

Traditional flat cap, made with suiting wool, with a cotton quilting fabric for lining.  Fully faced.  Bill constructed from muslin and plastic craft canvas.

 

Polyester lightweight twill outer, cotton fat quarter facing, cotton bias binding, covered button, and vest buckle painted with a metal flake paint.  Bill fabricated from plastic craft canvas, sandwiched between two layers of heavy stabilizer.

 

Freestyle knit in the round from cotton yarn.  Duplicate stitch nose.  Back seam with metal snap closures.  Patternless.

 

Black Cat - The Amazing Spider-Man

 

Costume fabricated from fitness running top, detailed with sewn on craft fur and jewelry elements.  Pants fabricated from contouring shapewear and sewn on craft fur.  Choker mask and earrings were designed and made by me.

 

All listed elements were made or altered by me accordingly to match my designs of the comic book character.  Reference image from J. Scott Campbell.

 

Antennae were crafted from model magic, Elmer's glue, hot glue, ribbon, florist's wire and a headband.  Shirt was sewn from red jersey.  Tutu was made with satin ribbon, and matte and sparkle tulle.  Boots were refashioned with black ecofelt dots.  Wings were fabricated from nylons, wire hangers, polar fleece, ecofelt, and elastic.

 

Pullover was made with dyed and painted sweatshirt material, cut and sewn based on my own boxy raglan design.

 

All listed elements were fabricated or sewn by me, according to my designs based on the popular children's book.

Kiki - Kiki's Delivery Service

Headpiece sewn from quilter's cotton, jeweler's wire, and velcro.  Dress sewn from blue flannel for movement, warmth, and comfort.  Bag is wool felt with a poly ripstop lining.  Jiji (cat plush) is ecofelt and poly fill, with nail polish stiffened whiskers.  Shoes are altered with orange quilter's cotton.
All elements were drafted and sewn by me, based on my designs inspired by the film.
