"Math Wonders"
Carnegie Learning and Art Institute of Pittsburgh

The objective was to brainstorm, design and create simple interactive games aimed at high school students with a tie-in to a high school math topics. The games must be technically accurate and communicate the concept in one to two minutes. The Flash-based games were required to work within the constraints of the LMS.
General math areas included: Quadratic Functions, Exponential Functions, Angles/Geometry, Conic Sections/Geometry, Counting Permutation and Combinations, Probability Statistics, and Trigonometry.

I led a team of 18 Game Art and Design and Web Design and Interactive Media students in the conceptualization nearly 50 game that were thinned down to seven.  I acted as the Creative Director and assisted in programming as needed.
"Save the Garden" features the use of quadratic functions, angle and trigonometry.
"Save the Garden" game play
The objective is to change the angle of the spray from sprnkler to ater the plants and keep away garden pests.
"The Goo Monster" shows exponential grow of the monster if the player doesn't keep the chemicals from it.
"Fly Trap" takes a fun approach to counting and ranges with the player acting as the spider,
shooting flies match the ranges required.
"Castle Creator" explores combinations and permutations by having the player build as many different towers in the time allowed. As the player succeeds, more pieces are added to puzzle, increasing the possibilities.
