Batik & Soft Pastels | Fine Art

A small sampling of traditional works I have dabbled with in 2008: passionate for the art of Batik employing dye resistant wax to create textiles art. This piece features Rafflesia blooms and bamboo leaves, painted for my Visual Arts examination in relation to procuring my Malaysian Certificate of Education. The theme was "Panorama Alam Flora", or 'Panorama of a Floral World'

It is worth noting the examiner who came from out of state took the original painting back to headquarters to display it as a yardstick sample piece in the marking of other pieces across the state before it was subsequently returned.
My first foray with soft pastels, painting still life artificial flowers from a framed cardboard box. This piece was subsequently hung in the Art Gallery wing of my Alma Mater.

The in-progress photograph is brought to you by Inessa Wong Su-Yin, with my gratitude.
This piece also employed soft pastels and was created with reference. While I am unable to cite that original reference as I worked from a cut-out sample handed to me : this piece was created as a part of a live Art Gallery launch, which involved myself creating the portrait in view of an audience of PTA and staff.
