Label Redesign - Nordic Wolf

Label Redesign - Nordic Wolf
The Project
This was for an assignment at Platt College San Diego, where we had to redesign a label of our choice while keeping the same information on the can. I decided to redesign the labels for Nordic Wolf Hard Seltzer, where I introduced a new color scheme and added to the "nordic" look and feel of the design.
The Process
The idea was to capitalize on the words "nordic" and "wolf." So starting with nordic, the first decision was to put the Triskelion (Odin's Horn) somewhere in the design. This symbol of three interlocking drinking horns is often found in Norse mythology, symbolizing wisdom and poetic inspiration. Next, I added Norse knotwork, something often seen in Norse and Celtic art from the time. I chose a typeface for the titles and subtitles to capture the feeling of "Nordic" but still be legible.

Moving on to the wolf, this is where the design differentiates into three ideas. The class voted on the second one, so I developed that further. I added a wolf run cycle at the base of the can to lead the viewer's eye around the entire can versus only looking at one side of it. An illustration of a wolf head imitating knotwork was also added to unify both "nordic" and "wolf." Ultimately the visuals of the mountains remained because that felt very fitting for the environment, but I decided to change the color scheme based on flavor. Using blue and red together communicates an icy connotation with the use of cool colors, but the red still shows that the drink's flavor is cherry and cranberry. The drink has multiple flavors, so the colors can change to reflect that.
