I've wanted to do something with Lana Del Rey for a while. I've always loved her look, especially in her H&M photoshoot, she is very like Priscilla Presley and really evokes that old hollywood glamour which is so iconic. As I've mentioned before I'm really challenging myself at the moment and trying to draw images that I would usually shy away from. Her head is to the right and resting on her hand, so not only would I have to map her face out carefully, but I would have to draw a hand, which I usually dread. I certianly took ym time with this piece, it took 13 hours to illustrate, but the time and consideration taken definitely paid off. I think this is my best piece of work to date. My new little tricks like stray hairs, eyelash shadows and highlighted brow hairs are really working towards a much more realistic pay off and I'm really feeling myself improve. I still definitely struggle with drawing ears, but I absolutely love how the her earrings come out and the simplistic digital finishes like the greysclae eyes, the pink wash over the drawing and the grungy ink additiong work really well with one another I think. i'm very happy.
