Catalan Independence Referendum

2017 CATALAN INDEPENDENCE REFERENDUM
The independence referendum, organized by the Government of Catalonia, was held on the 1st of October 2017 in Catalonia. It was formed after an election in which supporters of the referendum obtained a majority in the Parliament of Catalonia. However, the Spanish government opposed it, in accordance with the country's laws and constitution at the time. Its call was officially suspended by the Constitutional Court of Spain the day after approval, but the Catalan Government continued its organization, based on the Law on the self-determination referendum in Catalonia, approved on September 6 of September 2017, the referendum was called in the midst of a clash of current legalities.
More than two million people voted, despite numerous scenes of violence by state security forces and the police, which left several injured and hundreds injured.
